Mathes Dazzles as 'Sharks Win Second Straight

J.R. Mathes threw eight shutout innings as the Riversharks won their second straight game over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs by the final score of 2-0. It’s the first time this season that the Riversharks have shutout an opponent.

Mathes (3-4) allowed just six hits in his eight shutout innings without walking a batter and striking out three.

Virgil Vasquez (6-6) took the loss despite going the complete game for the Blue Crabs and surrendering only two runs on six hits.

Jay Marshall pitched the 9th inning and picked up the save for the second straight night.

Camden got on the board in the top of the 1st as Jonel Pacheco scored on Virgil Vasquez’s wild pitch to make it 1-0.

Danny Richar doubled the ‘Sharks lead in the top of the 4th inning with a solo home run, his 10th of the season, to give Camden a 2-0 lead.
