Baez Exits Early, Sharks Get Stomped By Warriors

Federico Baez battled control issues early in the Sharks 12-6 loss to the Road Warriors Friday night. Baez lasted only three innings, giving up 7 runs on 6 hits, and walking three.

The Warriors scored 2 runs in the top of the first, and added 3 more in the third inning when right fielder Mike Mooney crushed a ball over the wall in center field, scoring Sean Henry and Carlos Sosa. The slugfest continued into the fourth as the Warriors scored 4 more runs on 4 hits.

Meanwhile, Road Warriors starter Luke Massetti was mowing through the Sharks lineup. Massetti retired the first 10 batters he faced, before Lloyd Turner's double in the fourth started a rally that saw the Sharks plate 3 runs in the inning.

The Sharks rallied again in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to Danny Richar's 2 run home run and Toby Hall's RBI single that cut the lead to 10-6. But that's as close as they were going to get, as the Warriors tacked on 2 more runs in the top of the ninth, and their closer Adam Thomas retired the Sharks 1-2-3 to complete the rout.
