'Sharks Walkup Music Redux, Pt. II: Brian Burgamy

Burgy spent the off season down under in Australia. I'd like to think my number three hitter could unleash the dogs of war, so my choice is "Ace Of Spades" by Motörhead, with this video on the JumboTron:

Macias "Probably Done For The Year"

'Sharks outfielder Drew Macias, who was injured during the team's recent road trip to Sugarland, is "on the DL, probably done for the year..." according to GM Adam Lorber. Macias will be examined by doctors in his home state of California, and "might have to hang 'em up".

Macias, who was placed on the DL in late June, played in 51 games for the 'Sharks this season. He batted .216 with 5 home runs and 24 RBI.
No word on the nature on the injury. Updates to follow...

UPDATE: Elbow issues. He might really be done.

Revs' Offense Quieted In First Half Finale

The York Revolution entered Sunday’s contest leading the league in total runs scored for the first time this season, but that top-scoring offense was held in check by Mike McGuire and a trio of Camden relievers, as the Riversharks took the final game of the season’s first half 4-1 at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

McGuire (4-5) earned his second win at Sovereign Bank Stadium this season, allowing just four hits and one run in six innings, while walking only one and striking out eight.

Camden scored in the first inning for the fourth time in as many games in the series on an RBI groundout by Pedro Feliz.York answered with a run in the second on an RBI single to left-center by Salvador Paniagua, tying the score at 1-1.

Camden went back in front with a three-spot in the third, as Feliz ripped an RBI single to left, and Alvin Colina launched a towering two-run homer to left field, giving Camden the 4-1 lead.  It proved to be the final runs of the day.

Revs starter Matt Chico (1-2) was guilty of all four runs in three innings of work, absorbing the loss.  He worked out of a bases loaded jam in the second inning, but was unable to maneuver around five base hits in the third.

Yunior Novoa (two innings), James Houser, Stephen Penney, Adam Thomas, and Ricardo Gomez totaled six scoreless innings for the York bullpen, keeping the game close.

Camden’s bullpen was up to the task, however, after McGuire concluded his impressive outing by retiring 11 of the final 12 batters he faced.  Mariano Gomez stranded two runners in a scoreless seventh, Zach Hammes worked a perfect eighth, and after allowing the first two to reach in the ninth, John Lujan set down the next three batters to record his league-leading 16th save.

Camden’s Chris Walker went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases against his former team out of the Riversharks’ leadoff spot.  The Sharks stole five bases as a team.

Rain, Riversharks Wreak Havoc On Revs' Saturday Night Plans

After a mid-game rain delay, the York Revolution fell behind and couldn’t catch up against the Camden Riversharks, losing 9-5 on Saturday night at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

Camden got off to a quick start as former Revs outfielder Chris Walker homered on the first pitch of the game to left field.  Paddy Matera followed with a double to right-center on the second pitch and scored on a throwing error on an attempted double play turn, spotting Camden a 2-0 lead.

The Revs quickly answered in their half of the first as Scott Grimes reached second on a throwing error by pitcher Kevin Reese, and scored when Andres Perez singled up the middle, extending his hitting streak to 14 consecutive games.  Then in the second, Brandon Haveman doubled to left-center with two outs, and crossed the plate when Grimes’ fly ball in left-center was dropped by Eduardo Perez allowing another unearned run to score, tying the game at 2-2.

Revs starter Chris Cody retired nine consecutive batters before Pedro Feliz led off the fourth with a double to left.  Raul Padron then reached on a popup that fell in shallow right for a base hit, putting runners at the corners with no outs just before play was halted, as a nasty storm delayed the game for an hour and 43 minutes, forcing Cody’s exit.

When play resumed, James Houser struck out Alvin Colina for the first out, but Eduardo Perez followed with an RBI single to left giving Camden the lead.  Steve Doetsch then picked up a huge hit serving a two-run double into shallow right.  Matera drove in one more on a sac fly, capping the four-run outburst as the Sharks took a commanding 6-2 lead.

The Revs came right back, however, plating three runs in their half of the fourth.  After Danny Gonzalez reached on a popup that landed in shallow center for a single, Salvador Paniagua doubled to left and the Revs were in business.  Grimes worked a one-out walk to load the bases before Andres Perez singled into left, driving in his second of the game.  Chris Nowak then took a bases loaded walk to force in another, and Travis Scott drove in one more on a groundout, bringing the Revs within 6-5.  York stranded two more in scoring position, however, and four Camden relievers combined to hold York scoreless over the final five innings.

Camden tacked on two more runs in the fifth to again space their lead, as Colina picked up an RBI double to left-center, and Eduardo Perez drove in his second run when he reached on an error.  The Riversharks scored the final run of the game in the ninth on a Padron sac fly for the 9-5 final.
Spencer Steedley (3-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief, backed up by fellow relievers Josh Walter, Zach Hammes, and John Lujan who each worked scoreless frames.
Cody (4-9) suffered his fourth straight loss for York, charged with four runs (three earned) in three-plus innings before being forced out due to the rain delay.

'Sharks Walkup Music Redux, Pt. I: Chris Walker

Leading off, you want to send a message to the opposition right away. You need a song that says. "I am a BAMF. Be afraid." Something loud. And scary. And "in your face".

You can't get much louder, scarier, or more "in your face" than vintage PE. So, imho, Walker should come out to "By The Time I Get To Arizona" by Public Enemy.
