The Camden Riversharks (2-2) managed to shut out the Bridgeport Bluefish (2-2) in the last game of the four-game series with a final score of 6-0 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Humberto Sanchez (1-0) replaced Keith Weiser in the fourth inning and picked up the win. He allowed two hits, one walk and struck out two batters. Weiser allowed four hits, one walk and struck out two in his appearance on the mound. Relievers Michael Mehlich, Jason Bergmann and John Lujan combined for the final four innings on three hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
Matt Pike (0-1) suffered the loss allowing one run on four hits, three walks and fanning four.
The Riversharks scored five runs on five hits and five walks off of Bridgeport relievers Brad Furnish, Joe Bateman, Kyle Zaleski and Dan Stange.
Camden started the scoring in the third when Chris Walker walked and advanced to third on a single by Lloyd Turner. Felix Pie hit a sacrifice fly scoring Walker.
With two outs in the fifth, Turner walked and advanced to second on a single by Pie. Brian Burgamy hit a single to right which allowed Turner to score.
The Riversharks had a huge sixth inning putting up three more runs. Bill Rice reached on an error by the pitcher followed by Jake Eigsti advancing to first after he was hit by a pitch. Walker hit a two-run triple allowing both base runners to cross the plate. Turner walked again and Pie hit another sacrifice fly to advance the lead to 5-0.
Camden put one more run on the board in the ninth.
Walker went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.

'Fish Edge Camden In Saturday Matinee
Behind strong pitching, the Bridgeport Bluefish (2-1) defeated the Camden Riversharks (1-2) by a score of 4-1 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Saturday afternoon.
Paul Oseguera delivered four innings in his start for the Bluefish. The southpaw allowed a run, two hits and three walks while striking out five; but Oseguera but did not factor in the decision. Reliever Isaac Hess (1-0) picked up the victory as the lefthander tossed four scoreless innings on three hits while striking out one Camden batter. Jonah Bayliss picked up his first save of the year as he allowed no runs on one hit and a walk in the ninth.
Riversharks starter Bryan Corey (0-1) was solid but took the loss. The righthander worked six frames and surrendered two runs on five hits and two walks while fanning two. Joe D’Alessandro and Zach Hammes combined for two innings of two run, four hit, two walk, and two strikeout baseball.
Camden had a one-run lead heading into the bottom of the fourth when the Bluefish took the lead. After Kennard Jones and Prentice Redman reached base, Luis Lopez scalded a double to left to score Jones. With runners in scoring position Ramon Vazquez hit into a fielders’ choice and Redman was tagged out at the plate. After a second batter had been retired, with runners at the corners, Luis Rodriguez singled to left which push Lopez to the plate to take a 2-1 lead.
Bridgeport closed the scoring in the seventh. With runners on first and second, Prentice Redman served a double to left which allowed both of the runners to score.

In Which The City Of Bridgeport Conspires To Give Me Hypothermia.
Note to self: Bridgeport in April is a miserable place to watch a baseball game.
Thursday night, the Camden Riversharks began the 2012 season by blowing a four run lead and eventually losing 9-7 to the Bridgeport Bluefish. Starter Mike McGuire surrendered five runs on seven hits in just over 5 innings of work, but the line of the night came from his relief, Mike Mehlich. Lasting 1/3 of an inning, Mehlich gave up 6 runs on 4 hits, walking FOUR BATTERS before being yanked for Zach Hammes.
ABL MVP and all around big deal Brian Burgamy went 3 for 4, and Jake "Von" Eigsti went 2 for 4 with a double, 3 RBI and a run scored. That covers just about all the good news from game one of this series.
It rained off and on for the entire game, making for a miserable night in the stands. Luckily, there were virtually no Bluefish fans to be found. Paid attendance was somewhere around 700, in a stadium that seats over 5,000. It would've been funny if it wasn't so sad. Yeah, I get it, a weekday night, with miserable weather, but this is your HOME OPENER we're talking about, 'Fish.
Game 2, on Friday, wasn't hampered by rain. But it was bloody FREEZING in Bridgeport tonight.
Starter Sean Jarrett went 5 strong innings, and the offense blew up. Felix Pie hit a 2 run dinger in the 5th to put Camden up 4-0, and Drew Macias hit a bases clearing triple in the 7th to make it 7-0 Sharks. Shea Harris plated another run in the 8th with an RBI double.
Macias wasn't done. In the 9th he launched his first homer of the season over the centerfield wall to make the score 9-0. The bullpen combined for four shutout innings and the Sharks have their first win of 2012.

Hiya.
Long time, no rhyme.
I'm headed to Bridgeport to see our Sharks take on the Bluefish this Thursday and Friday. This blog isn't dead, it was on hot stove life support all winter. But now I'm back, recaps, pics and witty banter to follow.
